Kabaddi

The Hush Post: An old age Indian sport which had lost its glory, but slowly resuscitating, has caught the fancy of football players in England. It’s our own indigenous game of kabaddi.

A training session of any sport is always accompanied with a supplementary sport to have some fun. While cricketers in India play football during training, England football stars are harping on kabaddi as a fun sport while preparing for the FIFA World Cup.

According to a media report, football players like Harry Kane, Gary Cahill, Danny Welbeck, Jesse Lingard, to name a few, were all seen enjoying Kabaddi during a training session. The video showed Jamie Vardy, along with midfielders Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones, acting as raiders (or attackers) while Raheem Sterling, Danny Rose and Ashley Young played the role of defenders.

Kabaddi got attention from sports lovers across the world after the beginning of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) in India.

With the 2018 World Cup in Russia just 2 weeks away, 32 teams from around the world will be vying for the coveted FIFA Cup. England, who won their only FIFA World Cup title way back in 1966, failed to qualify for the Round of 16 in the 2014 edition in Brazil.

The teams have been split into eight groups with each group comprising four teams. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the round of 16. The final of the tournament will be played on July 15.
