FIR filed against Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami; wife questions Facebook for blocking her account, Shami says she’s mad

Serious allegations of rape, domestic violence and causing hurt with poison have been levelled against him by his wife Hasin Jahan

The Hush Post: An FIR has been filed against Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami and his elder brother by the Kolkata Police based on the complaint of his wife Hasin Jahan. The Sections invoked against the 27-year-old pacer include 307 (attempt to murder), 498A (domestic violence), 506 (criminal intimidation), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 34 (acts by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 376 (rape). The last section was brought against Mohammed Shami’s elder brother. Some sections are non-bailable and carry prison terms of 10 years or more. Jahan said on Friday afternoon that she was yet to be called by the police for recording her statement.

Meanwhile, Jahan has also raised her voice against Facebook for blocking her FB account and deleting her posts without her permission. Jahan had posted screenshots on her Facebook account of Shami’s alleged WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger conversations with multiple women. She had also uploaded photos and phone numbers of the women.  “I have not received any help from anyone. So I took to Facebook to speak of my ordeal. Why did Facebook block my account & deleted all the posts without my permission?” news agency ANI tweeted, quoting Hasin Jahan.

Jahan  has claimed that her parents and brother have refused to support her in her fight against her husband. “My husband’s elder brother, Hasib Ahmad, raped me when I went to my in-law’s place in Uttar Pradesh last year,” said Jahan on Friday morning.

Hasin Jahan also alleged that Shami received money from a Pakistani girl named Alishba and maybe involved in fixing. “Alishba is a Pakistani citizen and Shami claimed that she gave him money. I have never been told by Shami for what purpose that money was given. I don’t know but if he can fraud me he can fraud the country too,” Hasin told ABP News in an interview.

The cricketer’s contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India has been put on hold after Jahan’s allegations against Shami surfaced on Tuesday.

“What is being said about my personal life is completely false. It’s definitely part of a big conspiracy against me. This is just an attempt to defame me,” Shami had tweeted on Wednesday from Dharamshala where he was playing the Deodhar Trophy which ended on Thursday.

“As far as Hasin’s statements are concerned, I am 100 per cent sure that she has lost her mental stability,” he said on Friday.

Shami and Jahan got married on April 7, 2014, about two years after they met at a party of the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012. They have a two-and-a-half-year old daughter. Though Shami hails from Uttar Pradesh, he represents Bengal in domestic cricket. He lives with his wife and daughter near upscale South City Mall in south Kolkata.
