THE HUSH POST: The first Test of the series between India and Sri Lanka ended in a draw. Day 5 started with India on 171/1 . K L Rahul was the first to depart adding 8 runs to his overnight score and walked back to the pavilion scoring 79.  After Rahul, Suranga Lakmal bowled a dream spell taking another 2 Indian wickets sending home in- form Cheteshwar Pujara for 22 and Rahane for a duck. However, Viral Kohli on one end and stubborn show by Jadeja ensured India reach 251/5 at large. After Jadeja got out for 9, Ashwin came in but Shanuka found his middle stump, India were 281/7. India reached 352/8 when Kohli on 98 hit a six to reach his 18th century and declared the innings. Shami was on the other end.  Lanka needed 231 to win but were in trouble early with Bhuvi sending back Samarawickrama for a duck. In the second over, it was Mohammad Shami who got Karunaratne and Lanka were 2 for 2. At the score of 22, Lanka had lost their 4 batsmen with Thirimanne and Mathews departing. In came Dickwella who started using delaying tactics and took a lot of time on the crease knowing well that bad light could go in Lanka’s favour. Sri Lankans were 75/7 when play was stopped due to bad light. A rollercoaster of a game ended with Lanka dominating on the first three days, India doing well  to quietly resurrect and on Day 5  almost pressing the peddle on Sri Lankans what with just 3 wickets away from a win.
