The Hush Post: Who should open for India is becoming a headache for the BCCI, the selection committee and sure the captain as well. Out of the three available KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay anyone who gets to spen time in the middle is knocking a century, almost at will.
Murali Vijay who made a comeback to the playing XI in the second Test match after Shikhar Dhawan was released from the team due to personal exigency had scored a century in Nagpur. At Delhi he repeated the performance and completed his 11th Test century in the company of his captain Virat Kohli.
But unlike Kohli’s quite celebrations of late, Vijay’s was more of a dance-cum-jig. That wasn’t all as captain Kohli, always up for a lighter moment.
In a nutshell, the day belonged to India. It was a good toss to win for hosts, as they scored 371/4. Vijay and Kohli were the main batsman as they added 283 runs together. Vijay reached his 11th Test hundred, while Kohli reach 20th. The Lankan bowlers had no ray of hope and almost nothing to play for. At stumps, Kohli was playing on 156 and Lankans had a mammoth task of bowling out the remaining six Indian batsman.
