The Hush Post: USA’s Bei Wen Zhang beat India’s PV Sindhu in the finals of the India Open badminton championship at Siri Fort Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Zhang beat Sindhu in a hard fought match 21-18, 21-11, 22-20.
In a closely contested first set, Pusarla V Sindhu lost the first set 18-21 to Beiwin Zhang of USA. In the second set, Sindhu started well leading 8-2. The third point to Zhang came when Sindhu struck one at the nets. But after that it was again Sindhu who controlled most of the game till Zhang brought it closer to 13-10 still in favour of Sindhu. But after that Sindhu took the next six points as the scorecard read 19-10. Zhang was again able to snatch one point before Sindhu took another two points to win the set and pave way for the decider set of the India Open. In the decider, Sindhu trailed for most of the first-half of the game. she first took the lead at 13-12. However, Sindhu lost the third set 22-20.
Apart from the Olympic silver medal, Sindhu has won six Grand Prix Gold titles, two Super Series titles, one International Challenger and one Super Series Premier title.
