Graduates and post-graduates holding degrees like MBA, M Tech and B Tech are making a beeline for jobs as sanitary workers and sweepers in Tamil Nadu. According to reports, more than 4,600 engineers and MBAs applied for 14 posts of sweepers (10 posts) and sanitary workers (4 posts) in Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretariat. Also, many diploma holders were in the race for the same.

The Assembly Secretariat sought applications for the posts on September 26. The only qualification was that the aspiring candidate should be able-bodied. The secretariat received 4,607 applications in total including those from the Employment Exchange. Out of these, 607 were rejected and the rest fulfilled the eligibility criteria.

However, earlier on Tuesday, student leaders had accused the Union government for not presenting anything regarding issue of jobs and unemployment in the interim budget.

“This time we are not going to give Modi any chance as he has ruined our future. He would come to youth once again. Through our unity, we are going to ensure that all vacant government jobs are filled.”, N Sai Balaji, President Jawahar Lal Nehru University Student Union had said.
