The Hush Post: 17 men held for allegedly raping a 11-yr-old minor for the past 7 months in Chennai were thrashed by lawyers inside the courts complex today. While the accused were being escorted from the Women’s court after completing the remand procedure, an angry mob of around 50 advocates and others pounced on them and beat them up.
Eight of the accused were at once secured inside the 3rd additional family court on the ground floor while the remaining 9 were sent back to the women’s court. The incident was caught on camera phone and the video has gone viral on social media.
Earlier, the accused were produced before the women’s court which sent them into judicial custody till July 31.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) has decided not to represent the rape-accused in the court.
It is to be noted that 11-year-old, a hearing-impaired, was gang-raped at an apartment building by several men over seven months. The accused include security men, lift operator and water suppliers in the largely unoccupied 300-apartment complex where the minor girl stays.
A report said that the victim was allegedly sedated and was given spiked soft drinks. The cops reportedly said the minor girl was also blackmailed with videos of the assault. The victim apprised her elder sister about the ordeal she underwent. Her elder sister later brought it to the notice of their parents, a senior police reportedly said. Then, her mother approached the police and a complaint was lodged on Sunday, the report said.
Notably, recently a 99-year-old retired school principal was arrested in Chennai on the charges of allegedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl. The victim lives with her family in a home rented out by the elderly man, retired from a government school, the report said.
