The Hush Post: As fuel prices are skyrocketing, a guest at a wedding gave petrol as a gift to the newly-wed couple.
The unique incident happened at a wedding at Kumaratchi near Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. A guest gave the newly-wed couple a can of petrol as a wedding gift, a report said.
It was the wedding reception of Ilanchezhiyan and Kanimozhi.
A guest K Prabhu alias Prabhakaran, a native of Kumbakonam, presented the couple with a five-litre can of petrol. This unique gift drew the attention of the guests, the groom said.
Prabhakaran is the District Committee Member of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association. He is also an M.Phil student of Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University, Chennai. Groom Ilanchezhiyan was his junior. He said that he came to know that the price of petrol in Cuddalore was higher compared to other areas.
“We were waiting at a retail petrol bunk outlet to fill fuel. The plight of the people reeling under the skyrocketing fuel prices moved me. We immediately decided to gift a can of petrol to the couple,” Prabhakaran reportedly said.
He said he had wanted to sensitise people about the issue of fuel prices. Prabhakaran immediately filled the tank of the two-wheeler which parents gave as a gift to the groom.
