Massive fire at Terminal Ballistic Research Centre, TBRL, Panchkula

The Hush Post: There has been a massive fire at TBRL Terminal Ballistic Research Laboratory near Panchkula. Eight fire brigade vehicles have been sent to TBRL to extinguish fire. Till now there has been no official statement from the TBRL officials according to a news report.

TBRL is a DRDO research centre near Billa village in Panchkula. It is a testing facility and a high risk area. Adjacent to the TBRL is also an ITBP camp. The main laboratory is located in Chandigarh, though the firing range, spread over an area of 5,000 acre, is located at Ramgarh in Haryana, about 20 km from Chandigarh.

TBRL was set up in 1961 as one of the modern armament research laboratories as part of the Department of Defence Research & Development. The laboratory became operational in 1967 and was formally inaugurated in January 1968.
