A teenage boy died of “shock” after he was allegedly caught shoplifting. The incident took place in Vanasthalipuram suburb of Hyderabad on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as L Sateesh, a class 12 private college student from Vanasthalipuram. 17-year-old Sateesh had gone with his two friends to the supermarket to buy chocolates.
Sateesh’s friends said he lifted a chocolate and put it in his pocket. While Satheesh was doing so, a security guard noticed him.
When Sateesh was about to leave the supermarket, the security guard called him. He panicked and threw the chocolate. When the security guard frisked him, he did not find chocolate.
Eye-witnesses said Sateesh suddenly fell on the security guard when he was frisking him, and collapsed. His friends rushed him to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Friends said the security guard did not attack Sateesh. It is suspected that Sateesh might have collapsed due to the shock of being caught for stealing.
However, Sateesh’s famil alleged that he died due to the assault by the security personnel of the supermarket.
Police shifted the body for autopsy and launched an investigation.
