The Hush Post: A Maoist ideologue and writer P Vara Vara Rao was arrested by Pune Police from Hyderabad on Tuesday for allegedly being a part of the conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the police did not confirm the arrest.
Before the arrest of Rao, the cops searched his house for about eight hours. Besides Rao, seven others including two journalists close to Rao were also arrested.
A report said that P Vara Vara Rao is likely to be taken to Pune after producing him in a Hyderabad court by the Pune Police.
Notably, in the first week of June this year, the police had found a letter from Delhi residence of a Maoist sympathiser Rona Jacob Wilson, who was one of the five persons arrested for allegedly having links with the banned Maoist party, the report said.
The letter had a mention of ‘requirement of Rs 8 crore to purchase M-4 rifle and four lakh rounds’, which were to be arranged by Rao, it was reported.
