This TV host hasn’t washed his hands for 10 years; doesn’t believe in germs either

A host on Fox News in America has said he hasn’t washed hands for 10 years because ‘germs are not a real thing’. Pete Hegseth said on-air during a talk show that germs don’t exist because you can’t see them.

Hegseth, a graduate from Harward and Princeton, further said, ‘I inoculate myself’.  His remarks came after co-presenters Ed Henry and Jadiah Beale ridiculed him for eating pizza leftovers.

“My 2019 resolution is to say things on air that I say off air. I don’t think I’ve washed my hands for 10 years,” Hegseth said.

Hegset told USA Today that his statements were taken as a joke. “We live in a society where people walk with Purell bottles (hand sanitizer) in their pockets, and they disinfect everything around 19 000 once a day, as if it will save their lives,” he added. “I take care of myself and all this, but I do not dwell on it all the time.”

Hegset’s claim has attracted all sorts of comments, with some suggesting immunity gets reduced in those who are too obsessed with hygiene.

Some others commented, “You are endangering the lives of those who shake hands with you”.

Hegsed called such “literal and serious” perception of his words absurd.
