India could soon go the China way, though with a relaxation of two-child norm rather than just one. A law for having the two-child norm could soon come. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said this while addressing about 40 senior swayamsevaks in Moradabad. He is there for a four-day stay in this western Uttar Pradesh town.

Bhagwat, sources said, told a meeting of RSS functionaries that a law to make the two-child norm mandatory was what the RSS wanted next. However, the final decision in this regard is to be taken by the government.

Only in cases of triplets, quadruplets or twins born twice or once could a law be broken, if it comes in place.

On the question of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the RSS chief said the role of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was just limited. They wanted that trust is made and then they would dissociate.

After that the RSS would detach itself from the issue, leaving things to the trust.

He also clarified that temples in Kashi and Mathura were not on the RSS agenda.

Answering questions on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, Bhagwat reportedly said the RSS was fully supportive of the BJP government on these issues. He said there was no question of taking these steps back.

Bhagwat was responding to the questions of a select band of office-bearers of the organisation’s regional working committee. He was addressing at the Moradabad Institute of Technology auditorium in the city.
