The Hush Post: Five children allegedly beat a 12-year-old Dalit boy to death for touching the balloons used as decoration on Janmashtami at Chamanda temple in Nadroi village, Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
The victim’s friend, Suraj was at the spot when his friend was beaten. Suraj added that the five boys began to thrash his friend when the balloon burst. All the five suspects involved in the crime belong to the same age group.”
One of them held his arms and two of them held his legs and the other two started punching him in his stomach. I immediately ran to his house and informed his mother,” said Suraj who escaped from the place out of fear.
On Tuesday, a case was lodged against the five minor children under section 304 A (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC and SC/ST Act. SP (crime) Ashutosh Dwivedi said that investigations have begun and the post-mortem report is yet to ascertain the details.
Chandrapal, the victim’s cousin reportedly said that the victim’s mother, Savitri Devi ran to the temple the moment she heard the news. When Savitri Devi found her son lying in the temple, she took him home and informed the village Pradhan, Shyam Sunder Upadhyaya about the incident. However, the village Pradhan failed to consider the issue seriously.
A report by The Times of India quoted Chandrapal as saying, “My little brother complained about severe stomach ache at around 2:30 am on the same night. Then his mother took him to the local doctor, but he got no relief. Then we went to another doctor at 4 pm and he referred him to the district hospital.”
On Wednesday, at around 11 am, the victim was admitted to Aligarh district hospital. On the same day, the boy breathed his last at 12:30 pm. Chandrapal said that Savitri works as a labourer to take care of the family. She has a daughter and three sons and the victim was the youngest in the family. Savitri’s husband died eight years ago.
