Victim man complains four men from ‘upper caste’ tied him to a tree and thrashed him for refusing to harvest their crops. The accused also forcibly made him to drink their urine

The Hush Post: In an incident that puts the entire humanity to the shame, a Dalit man from Badaun in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly forced to drink human urine and badly thrashed for refusing to harvest their crops last month. The victim kept pursuing this matter and then it took him about one week to get his complaint registered by the police, Hindustan Times reported on Tuesday.

On Sunday, the victim gave his complaint to the police. In his complaint, the 50-year-old victim said four men from an “upper caste” tied him to a tree and badly thrashed when he said no to harvest their crops of wheat. The victim –who is a marginal farmer– alleged the accused also forcibly made him drink their urine and pulled his moustache, the report said.

The Hazratpur police station registered this complaint. Initially the police had refused to lodge his complaint, said the report.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Badaun, Ashok Kumar on Monday ordered suspension of inspector Hazratpur Rajesh Kumar for dereliction of duty and ordered a departmental inquiry against him.

“The incident took place in Azampur Bisauria Village which falls under Hazratpur Police station on April 23. We have registered an FIR against four accused under relevant sections and initiated investigation,” HT quoted SP (city) of Badaun, Jitendra Kumar Srivastav as saying.

SSP Ashok Kumar, SP (city) and Bareilly zone IGP DK Thakur met the victim at his
house on Monday and assured a proper probe in this matter.

An FIR has been registered under section 323 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) 506 (criminal intimidation) 342 (wrongful confinement) and relevant sections of SC/ST act, the report said.

“One Vijay Singh along with his brothers Shailendra Singh, Pinku Singh and Vikram Singh has been made accused in this case. They are absconding since the time of the incident, our teams are trying to arrest them,” HT quoted SSP Ashok Kumar as having said.
