There has been firing at Rasoolpur Gujran booth in Kairana Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened when some men tried to barge into the polling booth and the police had to intervene. The locals at that time started pelting stones and then in order to get the situation under control a BSF jawan fired in the air to dispel the crowd.

The Member of the Legislative Council MLC Virendra Singh was also present at the spot. The villagers boycotted voting temporarily. However, later when the Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh reached the spot and convinced the voters to come out and vote, the polling resumed.

There has already been 52 per cent polling at Kairana till 3:00 pm.
