The prime accused and his accomplice pressured the girl for repaying the loan and then raped her when she failed to do so
The Hush Post: In a shocking incident a teenage girl was gang-raped by two men in Muradnagar of Uttar Pradesh as she had requested more time for repaying a loan of Rs 1,500. The both accused were arrested and were sent to the judicial custody for 14 days by a Ghaziabad court in which they were produced.
The two arrested accused identified as Zahid and Mohan Pal had confessed their crime at a press conference in the presence of police that they raped the girl because she was not repaying a loan of Rs 1,500, which she had taken from them, a report said.
Along with these two men, the police had also apprehended a minor in the case on Thursday.
The police said that the incident occurred on Wednesday when the victim was coming back to her house on a bicycle from a photocopy shop in the neighbourhood. The three accused, including a minor boy, met her on the way, took her to a desolate spot and assaulted her sexually, the report said.
The police had registered an FIR on the basis of a complaint filed from the family of the victim under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Muradnagar police station, it was reported.
The prime accused, Zahid, had said at the police press conference: “We asked her for the money several times. She repeatedly sought more time but we declined. We pulled her to the fields and took turns to rape her. Meanwhile, the minor boy kept sitting on the roadside with her bicycle, keeping watch.”
Zahid further said: “She had taken the money for a festival. I borrowed Rs 500 from Mohan Pal and further arranged Rs 1,000 from others. The minor who was with us during the incident was not involved in the gangrape. However, he kept a watch.” They said the girl resisted but they threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone.
The victim had dropped out of school after failing Class 11 last year. Ghaziabad Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vaibhav Krishna said: “We have arrested the two adults and apprehended the minor. While the two men took turns to rape the girl, the minor kept a watch on the road. They gang-raped her over a very small amount of money.”
