A woman from Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh filed an FIR against her husband for the ‘breach of privacy’ and torture at Baradari police station. The woman accused her husband of recording their intimate moments and then threatening her to upload the videos on social media.
In her complaint, she said that her husband promised her to delete the videos but later he started threatening her. An FIR has been registered against the accused under section 506 (criminal intimidation), 377 (unnatural offenses) of IPC and provisions of the IT Act.
The police said that the complainant married a local contractor on October 29, 2018. On their nuptial night, her husband allegedly recorded their intimate moments. But he assured her to delete the footage. After a few days, she noticed that the videos were still there in her husband’s mobile phone. When she attempted to delete them, her husband allegedly sexually assaulted her and again recorded the video of the act.
According to the police, the woman alleged that she was assaulted many times. Also, when she approached her in-laws, they sided with the accused. She didn’t tell her parents about it because her husband threatened to upload the videos online. But on June 30, her husband allegedly beat her and she came back to her parents. After that, she filed a complaint against her husband on July 7.
“The complaint seems genuine, so we filed an FIR. Yogesh Kumar is the investigating officer of the case, but since it is the season of ‘Urs-e-Tajush-Shariah’, and Yogesh is on festival duty, the probe will begin once the Urs is over,” said Sub-inspector Ved Prakash Gupta, acting in-charge of Baradari police station.
