Still confused? Yes we have two Varun Gandhis contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Pilitbhit. Independent Varun Gandhi from Rewari is taking on BJP candidate and sitting Sultanpur MP Varun Gandhi.
Rewari’s Varun Gandhi had even contested against Maneka Gandhi’s son from Sultanpur in 2014. At that time he had managed to poll around 14 thousand votes.
Varun recollects that once in 2012 he had tried to meet Varun Gandhi but the latter didn’t give time. Terming Varun Gandhi as ‘arrogant’, he decided to contest against him.
Varun Gandhi is a graduate and runs a small hotel in Rewari.
He has accused his namesake of neglecting his constituency. “No development has taken place during his term as an MP,” he says. “I want the people to vote for me on the agenda of development, education and health,” he added.
The Election Commission has allotted him ‘cauliflower’ as an election symbol. This is the main thing for the voters to differentiate between him and his namesake on April 23.
