The Hush Post: IPS officer Surendra Kumar Das, who had consumed celphos to end his life had googled “ways to end life” before taking the extreme step. After browsing the history of his laptop and mobile phone, police and cyber experts revealed this.
“Das was depressed,” said Anant Deo, SSP, Kanpur. “Right now our priority is to save his life,” SSP Deo said. Das is the Superintendent of Police of East Kanpur district.
Staff members at Das’s residence told officials there was an argument over food between Das and his wife Raveena Singh. Raveena is doing Masters’ in Surgery from GSVM Medical College. Officials said the couple had a fight over the non-vegetarian pizza she had ordered on Janmashtami. “The argument over food had intensified and Das’ in-laws had to intervene to settle the issue,” said an official.
Since there is a police case, the investigators would speak to his family. Meanwhile, the hospital issued a medical bulletin saying there was no change in his condition. “The poison had affected the kidneys,” said Dr Rajesh Agarwal, chief medical superintendent, Regency Hospital.
A team of doctors is monitoring his condition on 20 parameters and ECMO was being used to stabilise him.
