The Hush Post: The main accused in the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, has been sent to seven-day CBI custody.
Also, his woman aide Shashi Singh, who had allegedly taken the girl to the MLA’s residence and was also named in the CBI FIR, has also been arrested.
“We support fair investigation. He has been sent to 7-day CBI custody,” Sengar’s lawyer tweeted.
Sengar was arrested by the CBI in Lucknow after a day-long interrogation on Friday night.
In February, the victim’s family moved court seeking to include the MLA’s name in the rape case. After this move, the victim’s father was booked by the police under the Arms Act on 3 April this year and put in jail on 5 April, where he died last week.
The victim and her family members have been kept in a Lucknow hotel under police protection.
