The Hush Post: Some armed robbers looted a marriage party (baraat) after killing the bride and injuring groom and four others, in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
Armed with firearms, these robbers shot dead the bride and decamped with gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees by looting the baraat on Delhi-Dehradoon National Highway, the NDTV reported on Saturday.
According to the police, the incident took place near Matore village, falling under the jurisdiction of Dorala police station, in Meerut district on Friday night. The police said that the groom and four others were injured in the attack.
The police said that the marriage party was returning to Meerut after the wedding in Ghaziabad.
The report said six armed robbers, in two cars, stopped the baraat on its way back.
The bride, Farhana, was killed as she resisted the robbers, NDTV quoted Senior Superintendant of Police Manjil Saini as saying.
Besides jewellery worth lakhs, a car was also looted from the baraat.
The police have started a manhunt to arrest the robbers.
