Mother throws newborn girl from fourth floor of hospital after learning child had liver ailment

A newborn girl died on Monday after her mother threw her down from the fourth floor of a hospital in Lucknow.

The incident came to light after the mother started saying that her child was stolen from the King Georgia Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Centre on Monday evening. The newborn child was undergoing treatment of a liver ailment.

During the investigation, the police looked through the CCTV footage of the hospital and interrogated the hospital officials and family members of the deceased.

The police reportedly observed contradictions in the statements given by the accused mother, on the basis of which she was detained.

On April 23, the child was born in BRD hospital, Gorakhpur. However, the baby was diagnosed with jaundice after which she was admitted to the KGMU Trauma Centre.

Durga Prasad, Circle officer reportedly said, “The accused woman has been detained on the basis of contradictions found in her statements and the CCTV footage. She was disturbed with the liver ailment of the child.”
