The Hush Post: Close on the heels of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) IPS officer Himanshu Roy committing suicide earlier this month, now an IPS officer Rajesh Sahni of Uttar Pradesh’s ATS has shot himself dead.
IPS Rajesh Sahni reportedly shot himself dead at UP’s ATS office in Lucknow on Tuesday. A report said that senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sahni was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the UP’s ATS office.
A senior police official was quoted by a news agency that the 1992 IPS batch officer committed suicide in his office. He was holding the charge of additional superintendent of police at ATS. Sahni is said to have shot himself dead with his service revolver. Doctors declared him dead when his body was taken to a hospital. “Rajesh Sahni, additional superintendent of police at UP ATS, committed suicide by shooting himself on the temple at 1245 hours in his office with an official weapon. The reason for the suicide is being ascertained,” an additional director general (ADG) of police Kumar was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Sahni’s death has left the entire UP ATS officials shell-shocked. Several senior police officers rushed to the hospital to know about the incident after hearing the news, the report said.
Earlier on May 11, a former Maharashtra ATS Chief Himanshu Roy had committed suicide by shoting himself dead at his residence in Mumbai. A 1988-batch IPS officer, Roy was reportedly suffering from cancer.
