Mayawati in a closed door meeting on Tuesday with her party leaders and coordinators said that the BSP would contest 11 upcoming assembly by-elections alone.
Earlier, the party had decided not to take part in the by-elections.
Talking to mediapersons about her brea up with SP’s Akhilesh Yadav, she said it was “not a permanent break”. She sought improvements from the Samajwadi Party for future camaraderie.
Akhilesh Yadav, in his first reaction, said his party would also consider contesting on all 11 seats in the bypolls. “We will give a considered response to Mayawati. If the alliance has broken, then we will also consider fighting alone. If we have to go separate ways, then so be it,” he said.
However, Mayawati was all praise for Akhilesh Yadav calling him a “good person” but she said she does not want to suffer in the Yadav family soap opera. She further said that Akhilesh could not even make his wife Dimple Yadav win.

She also raised finger at Akhilesh Yadav’s estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav for making a covert arrangement with the BJP in the Lok Ssabha elections.
It is to be remembered that it is for the second time that Akhilesh sidelined his father Mulayam Singh Yadav’s advice. Akhilesh earlier made an alliance with the Congress in the Assembly polls of 2017 , saw a major defeat resulting in Yogi Adityanath replacing him as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
