On Tuesday, a man was arrested from Noida for allegedly stalking a woman journalist on social media. He also threatened to kidnap her.

According to the police, Gulshan Kashyap, is a third-year BCom student of Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak. He is a resident of Devi Lal Colony in Gurugram. He was nabbed near the Sab Mall in Noida’s Sector 27 after raids were conducted to find him.

“The man would stalk her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and keep sending her offensive messages and posting comments. When blocked, he would create a new profile and repeat troubling her,” Inspector Manoj Pant said.

Pant further added, “Kashyap threatened to abduct her and also warned her against having any man in her life except him.” Later, he started frequenting Noida’s Film City where the news channel’s office is located.

The police said the victim, a news anchor with a private TV channel, had approached the police on November 6, after which a case was registered.

A mobile phone has been seized from Kashyap after his arrest, he said.

Gulshan has been booked under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code, said the police.
