A 45-year-old software engineer in Noida (UP) died, when the car he was travelling in caught fire. The incident took place in sector Pi-II in the Kasna area of Greater Noida on Tuesday morning.
The man was identified as Pawan Dhiman, a native of Amb in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district. The incident took place around 5.30 am near the DPS society. The early morning walkers called up the police.
As per the police, “As soon as we got the information, a police team reached the spot, nearly half a kilometre from his home. Fire tenders were also informed immediately. But the car, a 10-year-old diesel Ford Ikon, was already in flames and Pawan was trapped inside.
Nishank Sharma, circle officer 1, Greater Noida, said, “It seems that the car caught fire while running and the victim could not get out in time,”. The doors of the car were locked from inside.
The body was taken out from the car after the fire was doused and sent for an autopsy, said police. Police officials said that the identity of the victim was confirmed after matching the details of the registration number of the car.
