A 32-year-old man allegedly shouted ‘talaq.talaq..talaq’ in Raoji Market of Noida. Reason: His wife wanted Rs 30 for buying vegetables. The victim, Zainab, was taken to the hospital as the accused allegedly hit her with a screwdriver.
Talking about the incident, Zainab’s father said, “Her mother-in-law Najjo tried to remove her earrings but she objected to it. She refused to give away the jewellery as we gave it to her. Soon, her parents-in-law started beating her and did not allow any neighbor inside the house at that time. Also, Sabir, her husband, had hit Zainab in the head with a stick around two years back.”
The accused Sabir sells oil containers to mills. He had a very distressing relationship with his wife. The couple has four children.
An FIR has been registered against Sabir, Najjo and his sister Shama under IPC sections 498A (husband or relative of husband subjecting her to cruelty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The police took Sabir to the magisterial court from where a challan under Section 151 of CrPC was issued. He was released on bail.
Rest of the two accused are yet to be nabbed. The matter would be reported to the family court. “We will refer the matter to the family court as there is no official gazette notification on the issue of triple talaq. We are investigating the allegations of triple talaq,” said Dadri SHO Neeraj Malik.
