Pregnant woman strangled to death for objecting to smoking in Punjab-Bihar Jallianwala Express

In a shocking incident that took place on Friday, a pregnant woman was allegedly strangled to death in a train as she raised an objection asking a co-passenger to stop smoking. The co-passenger was identified as Sonu Yadav.

A K Pandey, the GRP police station In-charge said, Chinat Devi (45) was travelling with her family in the general bogey of Punjab-Bihar Jallianwala Express. Pandey told that after a heated argument, Yadav attacked the woman and strangled her. After the train stopped, the woman was rushed to a hospital in Shahjahanpur. The doctors declared her dead.

The deceased and her family were on their way to Bihar for taking part in Chhat puja festivities. The accused had been arrested and the body had been sent for post-mortem, Pandey said.
