The Hush Post: The survivor of the Unnao rape case has complained that the District Magistrate, under pretext of providing ‘security’, has confined the victim’s family to a room.
The rape survivor, who is 17 years old, has said that they are not being allowed to go outside and has appealed to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for help.
Talking to ANI, the girl said “I appeal to CM Yogi Adityanath to provide me justice. The DM has confined me to a hotel room, they are not even serving me water. I just want the culprit to be punished.”
The girl has alleged that local BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar along with his brother had raped her in July.
Asserting that they were feeling scared given the present circumstances, the mother of the survivor said they would not return to their village until and unless the situation returned back to normal. “We will not return to the village until the situation is normal. The MLA and his associates must be planning something. No one in the village will dare support us. No one will raise voice against the MLA and his family. They hold all administrative posts in the village.”
Trying to allay fears, Lucknow ADG Rajeev Krishna said that the family would be provided with full security cover. “The family will be provided full security. They have a relative in Delhi. It is their decision if they want to live here in Unnao or in Delhi.”
Krishna is also heading the Special Investigation Team constituted to investigate the Unnao rape case. He refuted claims that the SIT was under political pressure to let the MLA go scot-free. “I will send the interim report to the state government by this evening. All the angles are being investigated. There is no pressure on the SIT. It is working independently.”
Meanwhile, Sangeeta Sengar, the wife of the accused, said that the entire case was a political conspiracy. The wife, who is the zila panchayat president of Unnao, said that her family was being harassed and demanded a narco test that would prove her husband’s innocence.
“There’s political motive behind this. Make my husband and girl (rape victim) undergo narco test. My daughters are traumatised. We’re being mentally harassed. No evidence has been presented yet, still he’s being labelled as a rapist,” Sangeeta said.
Claiming that her husband was innocent, Sangeeta Sengar also said “My husband is innocent. If he is proven guilty, the entire family will give up their lives. The way evidences are being hidden, it is not correct, we want justice.”
