A police officer was brutally killed by an irate mob in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, after several dozens of people threw stones at policemen at the district’s Syana police station. Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was rushed to the hospital but doctors said, he was brought dead. As per reports, the villagers had gathered outside the police to protest cow slaughter.
“One police inspector has died during the clash,” said Bulandshahr district magistrate Anuj Jha.
A senior police officer said the incident took place a little before 12 noon.
The officer said some people had come with a complaint about an incident of cow slaughter near the village. “On this information, the police and executive magistrate reached the spot,” the officer said.
But for some reason, the people started getting agitated over the lack of what they thought was an insufficient police action. They soon started loading the remnants of the animals in their tractors.
Soon, the mob of villagers, numbering around 400 reached the police station, UP’s additional director general of police Anand Kumar said.
In the stone throwing that followed, several cops including the police station chief were injured.
