The Hush Post: In a shocking incident, 44 passengers were killed after the bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand this morning.
Eight of the passengers are injured out of whom three are serious.
The mishap took place on the Pipali-Bhoan motorway in Pauri Garhwal’s Nainidanda block. The police and a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are doing the rescue operations.
According to reports, there were more about 50 passengers travelling in this 28-seater mini-bus which was on its way to Ramnagar from Bhoan. What led to the accident is not known yet but the bus fell 100 metres deep and fell into a rivulet.
The injured were rushed to the hospital in Dehradun using the helicopters. The number of casualties is expected to rise, said Garhwal commissioner Dilip Jawalkar.
