The Hush Post: Five persons were killed and 21 injured when a bus fell into a 150 feet gorge in Almora district, Uttarakhand. Seven passengers were seriously injured. Three of them were admitted to Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital in Haldwani and four at a Ranikhet hospital. Twelve others with minor injuries were admitted to a primary health centre in Bhatrojkhan.
The District Magistrate DM said the accident occurred due to brake failure. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and Governor Baby Rani Maurya expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. They also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
The bus belonged to Garhwal Motor Owners Union (GMOU) fell into gorge in on Bhatrojkhan-Bhikiyasan route at 3.15pm.
On September 4, in another accident, a vehicle was hit by a landslide on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district, killing 14 people. The only survivor is still undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dehradun.
On August 28, two persons died and 33 were injured when a bus fell into a gorge in Tehri Garhwal.
As per the meteorological department , heavy rainfall has been predicted in Uttarakhand on September 9.
