The Hush Post: GRD World School, Bhauwala, Dehradun’s affliation has been cancelled. It was cancelled after the school allegedly tried to keep under wraps the gang-rape of a student.
The Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE has issued orders cancelling the affiliation of GRD World School, Bhauwala. The affiliation was cancelled for not being able to give a satisfactory reply to a show cause notice served to them. The regional office of the board served a notice to the school after the gangrape.
The action follows a recommendation after the chief education officer visited the school premises. It found the school violating various norms, including non-installation of CCTV cameras and lapses in the on-campus security.
Singh said parents of students already registered with the school need not worry. The students’ education will be taken care of by the CBSE. As per the order, there will be no fresh admissions in class IX-XII at GRD World School.
Nine people, including four students of the same school, accused of gang-raping the girl and five staff members, including its director and principal, have already been apprehended in connection with the case.
The incident took place on August 14. However, it came to light on September 16.
The girl, a student of class X, who lived in the school hostel along with her elder sister, first shared her ordeal with her. The elder sister went to the school authorities with the complaint.
The authorities instead of approaching the police hushed up the matter initially. They even threatened the two sisters that they will be thrown out of the school if they disclosed it to anyone.
Keeping mum for some time, the elder sister, however, confided it to a relative who approached the police.
