The Hush Post: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat along with other Congress leaders were struck in Kedarnath on Tuesday after heavy snowfall along with Congress MP Pradeep Tamta, local MLA Manoj Rawat.
Badrinath also received fresh snowfall this morning with 2 inches of snow covering the area. Hemkund, too, received heavy snowfall.
Thunderstorms hit several parts of India on Monday evening uprooting trees and electricity poles. The Metereological Department had also issued an alert that several parts of North India could witness thunderstorm and squall in next two days. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat asked all the District Magistrates to remain alert. All the schools of Dehradun and Haridwar would also be closed on Tuesday .
Speedy winds accompanied with squall hit many parts of north India on Monday resulting in infrastructural damages.
In Uttarakhand, trees and electricity poles were uprooted in Dehradun and State Disaster Response Force was on the job.
The Met Department had issued an alert that several parts of North India could witness deadly inclement weather in the coming 48 hours.
In view of the alert, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has asked all the District Magistrates to remain on alert. All schools in Dehradun and Haridwar would remain closed on Tuesday and so would all Aanganwadi centres.
