A 22-year-old man in Purba Bardhaman district, Kolkata took money from a neighbour’s father pretending to be his son. Later, he hacked to death the real son.
The accused, Jamal Sheikh, had been arrested on Monday for killing his neighbour Arshad Sheikh, 14,” the police said.
According to the police, the accused knew that the teenager had never seen his father. Since the son lived and worked in Kerala and was separated from his wife years ago. The boy lived with his maternal grandparents and hadn’t seen his father for a long time. Jamal took advantage of it and hatched a conspiracy.
Police said that taking advantage of the situation, the accused collected the man’s phone number. He spoke to him as his son and asked for monetary help.
“The father had sent money to Sheikh. But when the father expressed his desire to pay him a visit, the culprit killed Arshad out of fear,” said the officer. However, Arshad went missing on December 3 and his body was recovered from the fields.”
