The Hush Post: In a weird incident, a 40-year-old woman from Kolkata allegedly chopped off the ears of her husband, who is half of her age, at gunpoint in Kolkata’s Narkeldanga on Tuesday. Sisters of the accused woman aided her in committing the crime.
The victim, a 20-year-old Tanveer, a native of Narkeldanga, was taken to the NRS Hospital by his kin when they came to know about the incident, a report said.
The accused, identified as Mumtaz and her sisters thought that Tanveer died after the incident but he managed to flee to the safety, it was reported.
Later, the victim’s family gheraoed the police station and accused the police of not lodging an FIR and arresting the culprits. But, the cops claimed that the accused persons have absconded, the report said.
The victim, Tanveer, was tricked by his friend into marrying Mumtaz, who is double of his age two years ago. Mumtaz often used to torture Tanveer. He tried to flee on several occasions but Mumtaz’s goons allegedly brought him back every time, the report said.
Tanveer reportedly said that once he ran away to Mullickpur but was brought back and brutally beaten by Mumtaz and her sisters.
“She cut my ears and if I tried to resist they would have killed me,” Tanveer was quoted in the report. Tanveer was later held captive at Mumtaz’s house and wasn’t allowed to meet his family or go back to his home, the report said.
To end her son’s torture, Tanveer’s mother sold off their house and pleaded Mumtaz to release her son in lieu of the big amount of money. But Mumtaz allegedly took the money and kept torturing him. A probe has been initiated into the episode, the police said.
