A young man was deplaned and taken into custody by Central Industrial Security Force personnel at Kolkata airport. He allegedly uploaded a social media post from inside the aircraft. And it contained the word “terrorist.” The incident took place around 8:20 am.
Yog Vedan Poddar, the accused lives in Beliaghata area of east Kolkata. On the social media, he captioned the photograph with his face covered with a handkerchief and posted “Terrorist on board, I destroy women’s hearts.”
A co-passenger who saw his post, quickly informed the crew of the Kolkata-Mumbai flight that the youth made the post. The incident created panic especially in view of the anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks.
According to the police officers at Kolkata’s airport, “After the co-passenger alerted the crew, Yog Vedan Poddar refused to show his mobile phone. The CISF personnel found that he indeed made the post, where he took a selfie with his face covered and wrote those words. We are now checking his antecedents.”
Vedan told the police officers that he was merely indulging in a prank with his friends. However his father Nirmal Poddar also said “He was indulging in a prank.”
